Welcome to East End Surgery and Trauma. We are a surgical practice specializing in General Surgery, Advanced Laparoscopy, Minimally Invasive, Critical Care, and Trauma Surgery under Board Certified Fellowship Trained Surgeon Dr. James Groff.
Meet Our Surgeon
Dr. James Groff was born and raised in a small town in Ohio and later moved away for education to West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York and Connecticut. After completing his General Surgery Residency with honors at Stonybrook Southampton Hospital and Peconic Bay Northwell Hospital in Long Island, New York; Dr Groff was honored to be trained at the founding institute of Critical Care and Trauma Surgery at Hartford Hospital in Connecticut. He is one of the only Board Certified Fellowship Trained General, Critical Care and Trauma Surgeon on the East End.Dr James Groff resides full time in Southampton, New York. His wife, Dr. Asma Rashid, is a concierge physician who founded Hamptons Boutique Medicine, with office also located in Bridgehampton. They have two wonderful boys Laiq and Liam and together enjoy fishing, boating, and all that is living by the beautiful sandy beaches in the Hampton!

Initial Consultation
Taking Care of You
Dr James Groff sees patients for a wide range of illnesses being that it is a simple infection to complex issues such as cancer or traumatic injury. During your initial consultation, you will meet Dr. Groff and discuss your primary concern. There will be a thorough review of your medical and surgical history. Then, after any necessary imaging or lab tests, you and Dr. Groff will formulate a plan to help set up your best management care. Based on your medical history, there can be a need for pre-surgical evaluation with a primary care physician. Once your are ready for surgery, scheduling will take place at the hospital of your choice and at a time that is best suited for you!
Surgery
The Care You Deserve
On the day of your surgery, you will come to the hospital, meet with the nurses, your anesthesia team, and be operated on by your attending surgeon Dr. James Groff. Any last minute questions will be answered, then you’re off to have your procedure. Afterwards, you will spend some time recovering in the PACU, then be transferred to a post surgical floor or go home directly. Benefits will entail the use of local anesthesia prior to an incision advancing to minimally invasive surgery, Dr. James Groff will commit to everything that he can to offer and ensure an ease of access and successful surgery.
Post-Op Care
The Care You Deserve
Based on what type of surgical procedure was completed, the usual post-operation follow up visit is in 1-2 weeks. Once an office visit is set up, then a post operation exam will take place. At this time, Dr James Groff will be checking the incision site and answer any questions you may have such as diet or when you can resume work, exercise, etc. If you need to stay in the hospital after your procedure, Dr. Groff and his team then will be managing your in-patient admission care and will attend to your medical needs. When it is confirmed to have a safe discharge, our team will assist in making sure that you are on your way to a speedy and successful recovery.
